Voltshare and Forward College Join Forces to Chart Electric Vehicle Charging Expansion into Germany and Wider Europe

LONDON, UK – 7th April 2025
Voltshare Ltd, a leading innovator in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has successfully collaborated with Forward College on a strategic consulting project focused on exploring expansion opportunities within the burgeoning German and wider European EV charging markets, with a particular emphasis on the hospitality sector. Leveraging the fresh perspectives and analytical rigor of Forward College students, the project delivered valuable insights and a strategic roadmap for VoltShare’s potential market entry.
The collaborative initiative spanned three distinct phases: in-depth market research, the development of a prototype analytical tool, and the formulation of strategic recommendations. The core objective was to meticulously assess the viability of voltshare entering the German market and to pinpoint high-potential regional opportunities across Europe.
The comprehensive market research phase unearthed crucial trends within the German landscape. The findings highlighted a strong correlation between EV charging demand and domestic tourism, with northern states such as Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern demonstrating significant potential due to their prevalence of campsites and vacation rentals. Interestingly, Bavaria presented a more hotel-centric demand profile. A key observation was that many hospitality venues currently view EV chargers as a guest amenity rather than a direct revenue stream, often lacking integrated software solutions – a gap VoltShare’s comprehensive bundled offering of hardware, software, and installation services is uniquely positioned to address.
A tangible outcome of the partnership was the development of an interactive digital map. This innovative tool integrates tourism data with existing infrastructure information to visually identify underserved regions with high potential for EV charging deployment. France served as a valuable benchmark market due to its comparable infrastructure maturity, providing insightful comparisons. While the Netherlands offered rich data availability, the research indicated a more saturated market, making it a less immediate priority for VoltShare’s initial expansion.
“This collaboration has given us invaluable insights into the European charging markets,” said Sheng Liu, CEO of voltshare. “The collaboration with Forward College has provided us with invaluable insights into the nuances of the German and wider European EV charging markets. The students’ rigorous analysis and innovative approach have helped us to identify key opportunities and develop a more informed expansion strategy. We are particularly impressed with the interactive mapping tool, which will be instrumental in our future planning.”
The successful completion of this project marks a significant step for voltshare as it explores new horizons in the European EV charging landscape. The detailed findings and strategic recommendations developed in collaboration with Forward College will be crucial in shaping VoltShare’s future market entry strategy and solidifying its position as a leading provider of comprehensive EV charging solutions.
